Real interest rate - The real interest rate is the nominal interest rate minus the inflation rate. It is a better measure of the return that a lender receives (or the cost to the borrower) because it takes into account the fact that the value of money changes due to inflation over the course of the loan period. Fixed interest - A fixed interest rate loan is a loan where the interest rate doesn't fluctuate over the life of the loan. This allows the borrower to accurately predict their future payments. Adjustable rate mortgage - An adjustable rate mortgage or variable rate mortgage is a loan secured on a property (house) whose interest rate and so monthly repayment vary over time. Annual percentage rate - Annual Percentage Rate (APR) is an expression of the effective interest rate that will be paid on a loan.
